Early Modern Iberian Worlds (EMIW), a research group at èצӰÏñ DLCL, cordially invites you to its inaugural graduate student conference, Avenidas: Early Modern Pathways at èצӰÏñ.

The event will take place on May 22, 2025, at the èצӰÏñ Humanities Center. Generously sponsored by the DLCL and the SHC, Avenidas aims to foster a dialogue among faculty and graduate students of early modern Iberian studies across èצӰÏñ, facilitating a polyphonic, interdisciplinary dialogue.

We seek to identify the different pathways that connect graduate students across the university and to hear about the Avenidas that led three èצӰÏñ alumni working in this area to tenure-track jobs. The conference will feature three keynotes by former èצӰÏñ students–Mackenzie Cooley (Hamilton), Leonardo Velloso-Lyons (Emory) and Caroline Egan (Northwestern), along with four current graduate student presentations by Jessica Youngji Ryu (ILAC), Fernando Martínez Periset (Complit), Ethan Kevin Hill (ILAC), and Thiago Nunes Santana (Complit).

The conference will be held in Board Room from 9:00 AM to 5:15 PM. Please fill out the  if you are planning to attend.

We truly hope that you can join us in the event!

Best regards,

Nicole, Jessica, and Thiago
